Dueteronomy

Dueteronomy is probably the oldest cat, because he had been chosen a thousand times to go to the HeavySide Layer so who knows how many time he has came back with a different Jellicle Life.
He's the leader of the tribe, andthe father of some of them as Munkustrap, Ruum Tum Tugger and Macavity, at least that's the strongest theory. He's and adult, a really old cat, who kinda teach this cats how to be good, that's why he sends a message through Jemima in 'The Moments of Happiness', to show them that they had to be good.He's always protecting everybody (as much as he cans) but that's the protector's work (Munkustrap).
He was kidnapped by Macavity but Mistoffelees (♥) brought him back.


He in the musical is extremely important, he's the leader, and one of the main stories is kinda based of him being kidnapped.
His mate.. It's disturbing to think of a mate for him...
His friends are.. EVERYONE.. everyone loves him.


PHYSICALLY: he's a light grey and dark grey fat cat.
Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was KEN PAGE (the original Dueteronomy in the Original Broadway Production)

Cassandra

Cassandra is an adult cat, whose really mysterious, she sort of has special senses, really insignificant, but it still something there.In the musical, she does nothing else but dancing, and being all mysterious and sexy all the time.
Her mate may be Alonzo, they are always like playing really provocative all the time, but it feels to me that is sort of pleasent, but he dances really passionate with Jemima, with Cassandra is all about the looks and just fooling around.
Her family, well, nobody, with the exeption the producers of the 98's film gave her a sister, Exotica, which they're really alike physically, but Exotica was an invenstion for only Femi Taylor got a part in the film because she was in the Original London Cast (as Tantomile).
She gets 2 solo lines, in the film, so she's not that important, in the Jellicle ball she's with Alonzo, but in some productions she's with Mistoffelees.


PHYSICALLY: she's mostly brown and she has a braid as a tale.
Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was REBECCA PARKER (her legs are so long!)

Grisabella

Grizabella is an old and dilapidated cat that was once a part of the Jellicle tribe. She was once young and beautiful and curious. She wanted to explore the world outside the junkyard.After she had this great life she wants to come back to the tribe, but in the tribe they don't let her in, or they're too afraid to, she tries to come back plenty of times , the older cats already knew her, but the kittens didn't and wanted to accept her but Victoria, this young and clear-hearted cat took the courage, although she and the kittens tried plenty of times before, to do it and Finally, on her last attempt, Grizabella pleads with the cats to accept her. In her singing ofMemory she explains to the others what she has been through. She collapses on the ground and Jemima's singing gives her the strength to stand and finish singing. Jemima reminds her of when she was young and beautiful, too.


About her, being in the musical, she's extremely important, she's part of one of the two main histories of the show and she sings ''MEMORY''.


About her family, she may be related to some of the cats in the tribe, but I'm not shure who could be.


About her mate, I don't know, some people say Gus, because both of them had great past and now they're kinda wasted, but I'm not shure if he even knows her! Maybe he does, he's really old.


Who gave life to this character in the 98's film was ELAINE PAGE (the Orginal 81's London Producton she was Grisabella) 

Pouncival

Pouncival is not yet an adult, but not a kitten either. He is in between, but still acts very kittenish.He became an adolecent in the Jellicle Ball, but he kinda already one so he just grew a little bit more Pouncival is very acrobatic. He idolizes the Rum Tum Tugger, and wants to be just like him. Pouncival loves to tease, especially the other kittens, and he torments Grisabella. He is goaded on by his friends and scratches her. 




About he, being in the musical, he has only one solo line, it's actually two words, but does plenty to draw attention to himself.


About his family , there are a bunch of cats who are much alike physically, Plato,Tumblebrutus, Admetus ... they're like the same kind, some of them may be brothers or something but who knows, he's also like Munkustrap (physically) but i don't think they're related at all.


About his mate, he doesn't have a mate, but he's in the Jellicle Ball with Bombalurina, and they spend time together messing around in the Tugger's song.


His best friends are those bunch of cats whose I mentioned before, and he messes around with Bombalurina.


Who gave life to this character in the 98's film was KARL MORGAN (he makes the cutest faces :3)

Mistoffelees was so much important!

Well as some of you may know, Mistoffelees was so much important in the 81's Original London Production, here are some of the examples:

-Jemima didn't sing along with Grisabella, Mistoffelees did.
-MungoJerrie didn't sing their own song, Mistoffelees did.
-Demeter wasn't the one who shouted Macavity's name every time he was around, Mistoffelees did.
-Mistoffelees sang the biginning of Skimbleshank'es song.
-Mistoffelees sang a part of his own song.

Etcetera

She's a kitten like Victoria and Jemima, in the Jellicle Ball she's with Admetus. She has a serious crush on Rum TUm Tugger, she should be seen by a veterinarian.


About her, being in the musical, she's not that important, exept in the part she starts screaming (hehe).


About his mate, nop nop NOT TUGGER she's just his fan :) I'm not shure, I don't think she has a mate , like, an official mate, I DON'T KNOOW!!


Her best friends are Electra, she sometimes speaks with Victoria, Jem and Misto.


About her family.... don't know :S


Physically: she's mostly white but she has black and light brown stripes
Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was JO BINGHAM... she has the same name of the one who made Rumpletazer :3

Bombalurina

Bombalurina, the most beautiful cat (or tha's what every male cat thinks), she's really sexy and most importantly, she acts and believes she's really hot (which she is hehe) 

Bombalurina is the most seductive of the queens. It seems that she has had a "relationship" with just about every tom in the tribe. She was involved with Macavity for a while. And she and Rum Tum Tugger are forever teasing each other and flirting.

She's an adult, in the Jellicle Ball she just helped Pouncival to grow. She totaly dislikes Grisabella.

About she, being in the musical, she's a lead singer and really important in some parts of the Jellicle Ball.

During their song about Macavity, Bomby tries to convince Demeter that he isn't really that bad. 

 

About her mate, I don't know, maybe Tugger but they're too inmature :).

Her best friends are Demeter, Munkustrap and Pouncival .. and of course Rum Tum Tugger(she sings a little part of his song).

About her family, Demeter's her sister and she's kinda Jemima (physically).

Physically: she's mostly red with a white base and black stripes.

Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was ROSEMARIE FORD (love the way she sings!)

Demeter

Demeter is a beautiful cat, she's the only adult who wanted to accept Grisabella (but she was too afraid).

She's an adult already and in the Jellicle ball she didn't grow.

Demeter was once kidnapped by Macavity and tortured, or else she had a relationship with him that went wrong. Whatever the case, she does not want to be anywhere near him anymore. Macavity tried to kidnap her after she and Bomby finished singing about him, but she was saved by Alonzo. 

About she, being in the musical, she's a lead singer so she's obiously important.


About her mate, It's Munkustrap, I think is the most obious couple!


Her best friends are Bombalurina, Munkustrap, Alonzo and she's sometimes speaking with Victoria (I'm not shure that in the movie shows that but I went to the show in England!)


She also knows where Macavity is every time because some rumors say that she had a relationship with him that's why she always knows when he's around (Although in the original London Producton, and the one I saw, is Mistoffelees who tell to the rest of the tribe when Macavity's around)

About her family, Bombalurina is her sister.Demeter might be Electra's mother, her father may be Munkustrap.  

Physically: she's mostly yellow, with white base and black stripes.
Who gave life to this character in the 98's silm was AEVA MAY (I don't know what to say I just love Demeter)

Victoria: the white cat

You have all the main information about Victoria, so now SOME DETAIL!
Victoria is, probably, the most beautiful female cat, the white one, the elegant, delicate and graceful cat.
She's shy and she doesn't quite know how to relationate, this is her first Jellicle Ball, and everyone is alucinated with having THAT kind of cat in the tribe.Like I said, she's shy so she doesn't quite know how to relationate, so with her beautifulness she moves delicately around so everyone can see how she is, she shows herself through dancing, in her solo she's a little kitten discovering the beautiful body she has. At the end of the Musical she's already a teenager, the jellicle tribe knows her how she is and she can interact with them as family.
After her solo, she knows how beautiful she is so she likes to show it, in the Jellicle Ball she knows it and dances so hard! Specially just before the Mating Dance, she has discovered herself, and now is time to grow and show-up as a grown-up (not a actually a grown-up but she's pretty mature).

She's a rule-follower, very obedient but she couldn't resist see through that ugly coat who Grisabella uses, and see all the darkness and sadness and regret which Grisabella's coming through so Victoria, without thinking it twice, goes ahead and accepta her, which is really valuable, imagine that not even Dueteronomy did it! How clean-hearted Victoria has to be! And how she puts in the place of others, she's really a cat to admire, she's actually one of my favourite cats! In the movie she has no solo lines, but in the Broadway, American Tour and London productions it's Victoria that sings along with Grisabella in Memory and not Jemima. 
In the 81 Finola Hughes interpreted Victoria.

MungoJerrie

MungoJerrie is a teenager, a little bit smaller than Tugger, in the Jellicle ball, he doesn't actually grow a hole phase, he becomes like a teen but a little bit older, being almost an adult.
He's a thief, he's part of a due, MungoJerrie and Rumpletazer (they got their own song) and they dedicate to rove at nights.


About him, being in the musical, they're pretty important because they got their own number (pretty tiring i must say) with the singing and dancing and fast moves.And really funny all the faces he does!


About her mate, NO! NOT RUMPLETAZER they're brothers, and that they were together at the Jellicle Ball means nothing, they needed someone to grow with and they (like I said) didn't actually grow a hole phase, they had to be together.Although he kinda likes Victoria, if you can notice, I don't remember when, but victoria was on that crushed car (escenography) and she wanted to go down and he helped her really gentlemen-ly (if that's a word).

His best friends are Rumpletazer, Etcetera, Alonzo, and she spends some time with Pouncival and Victoria.


About the family, Rumpletazer is his sister, and both of them are pretty much like Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks (physically)


Physically: he's mostly orange and she's also black and white (stripes)

Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was DREW VARLEY (love the cute and funny faces he does... alright! I found his facebook and found out he's got a dog :)  )

Rumpletazer

Rumpletazer is a teenager, a little bit smaller than Tugger, in the Jellicle ball, she doesn't actually grow a hole phase, she becomes like a teen but a little bit older, being almost an adult.
She's a thief, she's part of a due, MungoJerrie and Rumpletazer (they got their own song) and they dedicate to rove at nights.


About her, being in the musical, she's pretty important because they got their own number (pretty tiring i must say) with the singing and dancing and fast moves.


About her mate, NO! NOT MUNGOJERRIE they're brothers, and that they were together at the Jellicle Ball means nothing, they needed someone to grow with and they (like I said) didn't actually grow a hole phase, they had to be together.Although she  starts kissing Tugger just before it (Jellicle ball).


Her best friends are MungoJerrie ,Rum Tum Tugger, Alonzo, and she spends some time with Pouncival and Mistoffelees.


About the family, MungoJerrie is her brother.. that's pretty much it. OH! AND THAT she is physically like Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks, maybe the two of them are their child.

The Rum Tum Tugger

Rum Tum Tugger is and teenager, in the Jellicle ball he becomes an adult.He's really interested on the female cats (queens) and all the kittens
(Etcetera,Victoria,Electra
,Jemima) have a crush on him (specially Etcetera) and he also believes he's the best.


About he, being in the musical, he's important, because, well he brings entertainment to the audience and he's a lead singer.


About his mate, well maybe Bombalurina (when both of them get mature), just before the mating dance he's starts kissing Rumpletazer, so, I don't know, and, a lot of people asks me: ¿Who is with him at the Mating Dance? well, he's with Jennyanydots, he just needs to become an adult.


His best friends is Mistoffelees, he sing him his song, and Misto sings a part of his, he spends a lot of time with his fans an singing with Munkustrap.


About his family, he's one of the three Dueteronomy's son, his brothers are Macavity and Munkustrap.

Physically: he's black, and kinda mustard, with a big curler and a mane,and his collar has enormous skewers. 
Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was JOHN PATRIDGE (his voice is so cool!!!!!)

Alonzo

Alonzo is a teenager who becomes an adult at the mating dance.He's a really beautiful cat, he flirts with some cats along the musical (Cassandra, Jemima...).
Alonzo is a very striking tom who is known as Victor in the London production. He is very bright and hard to miss because he has lots of solid white and black. Alonzo is an adult cat who is mature and serious. He is not impressed at all by the Rum Tum Tugger, even though every other cat seems to be.


About he, being in the musical, he's not THAAAT,but he still is because after Munkustrap becames the leader, Alonzo will be the protector.
About his mate, mmm not shure, but not Cassandra I just, don't see them together, but he always flirts with some cats.
He spends time with Mistoffelees, Cassandra, Munkustrap, Mistoffelees, Demeter and Bombalurina.


He's one of the bravest cats, when Macavity appears he confronts him, and saves Demeter too.


About the family, some people say he's Mistoffelees brother but I don't think so, I believe he maybe Victoria's brother, because of the colours and the names.
Physically: he's black and white.
Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was JASON GARDINER (He moves his hips so hard!!!)

Victoria

Victoria is a kitten who is beautiful, elegant, delicate and graceful.She's really kind and she's one of the three cats who wanted to accept Grisabella at first, but Victoria is the one took the courage and power to accept he (she was te first).


About her family I believe she's Alonzo's brother because of the physics and the names or Tumblebrutu's sister too, some people say she's Munkustrap's daughter, maybe! but I don't think she's Misto's sister either.


About her mate, Mistoffelees has a crush on her (obiously) but I don't think they'll end up together, she's one of the cats which I think they're too young to mate them.


About her, being in the musical, she's really important, visually (because she's the only white one) and at dancing in the cast, the best female dancer has to be Victoria.


She's best friends with Jemima and Mistoffelees.She's one of the kittens who has a crush on Tugger.
In the mating dance, she dances wit Plato (is kinda the only thing he does).


Physically: she's white, and white ... and white...
Who gave life to this character in the 98's film was PHYLLIDA CROWLEY SMITH 
a great dancer (she was choosen the best dancer in some magazine when she was JUST 15!)

Munkustrap

Munkustrap is an adult, the protector of the tribe, when Dueteronomy passes away , :( , he will be the Jellicle leader.
His mate is clearly Demeter.
About he, being in the musical, he is really important, he's the storyteller, and the one who always protects the tribe when Dueteronomy is there or is not.He's one of the lead singers.
He's really protector and generous.
About his family, he's Dueteronomy's son, his brothers are Macavity and Rum Tum Tugger.Some people say Victoria is his daughter, well ¿, he always protects more than the others.
He spends a lot of time with Demeter, Bombalurina and he seems to be very close to Mistoffelees.

Physically: he's black,grey and white, and he has black stripes.
Who gaved life to this character in the 98's film was MICHAEL GRUBER (such an amazinf performer!)

Jellicle Ball

Well, this is one of the best numbers!
All of in the picture are in it.

It is 13 minutes of dancing (AMAZING) it includes really good parts, like the mating dance, which i have to clear something out.

THE MATING DANCE IS ONLY FOR ONE OBJECTIVE:
The smaller cats ,in some way, grow in this part, some older cats are with the smallest so they can grow, is kind of a welcome to adulthood, (like Rum Tum Tugger) or , in some cases, adolesence (like Victoria, Misto and Jemima).

THE OTHER PARTS consists in, well,the Jellicle Ball, every year all the Jellicles get together so the Jellicle leader (Dueteronomy) decides who will go to the Heavyside Layer, sooo , every year they make this kind of ritual, that includes this mating dance and only dancing.
At the beginning the laugh of Macavity freaks them out that's why they ran way, afterwards everything is alright so he starts calling them back, inviting them, then they start reaching there one by one by the invitation to start the Jellicle Ball, then the start it.

While tey're dancing they put their hands to the sky, that means the Heavyside Layer.There's also some in-pairs dance and some really ''ballet'' dance by Misto and Tumblebrutus.

Jemima

Jemima is a kitten, really cute and kind, she's one of the cats who wanted to accept Grisabella at first, she kinda is the first to accept her because she didn't knew how to so she sang with her, but Victoria is the one who took the courage to officially do it.


About the family, she's physically like Bombalurina but I don't think she's related to her at all, some people say she's Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks'es daughter, but WHO KNOWS!


About her mate, she sometimes is with Alonzo but I'm not shure, I believe It's Mistoffelees but is to soon to put her with somebody.


About her, being in the musical, she's really important in singing.In some countries they change her name into Sillabub, I never understood why.


Her best friends are Mistoffelees and Victoria, and she sometimes spends some time with Etcetera and Electra.
Jemima has a beautiful voice. When Old Dueteronomy sends a message out duringThe Moments of Happiness, he speaks through Jemima.


Physically: she's red, black and white.
Who gave life to this character in the 98's film was VEERLE CASTELEYN, a great dancer,singer and actress, she didn't sing in the film beacuse she didn't pronounce the english very well.

Magical Mr.Mistoffelees / Quaxo

Mistoffelees is a kitten who has magical powers , through the musical he becomes Mistoffelees, because he's not using his powers and shiny outfit he's Quaxo, but the kinda shows himself to everyone as a magician so then he's officially Mr.Mistoffelees.Mistoffelees has mysterious senses. He always knows when Grisabella is around


About he, being in the musical, he's extremely important because he, with his magic (although he doesn't quite know how to use them) he brings back Dueteronomy, who had being kidnapped by Macavity, and he's really important at dancing, in fact, in the cast the ebst dancer has to be Mistoffelees.


About his mate, he obiously has a crush on Victoria, but I don't think they'll end up together, i believe maybe with Jemima, but I think is to early to mate him with anybody, he's to little.

He's really generous and shy,and always helps everybody (CUTE).


He's best friends are Rum Tum Tugger, who sings his song, and Mistoffelees sings a little part of Tugger's song, Victoria and Jemima, and he always dances with Tumblebrutus or Skimbleshanks.

About the family, well he's Macavity's son (sadly) that's where he got his magical powers.Some people say he's Alonzo's brother because of the colours but I don't think so, and I don't think he's Victoria's brother either.

Hi! Well, this blog was made to give information about Cats The Musical , in general , mostly the 1998 film,
So I'll be blogging information of each character and all of the characteristics and opinions, and also describe each of the numbers, so you can see each detail of the musical , and funny information about the 81's production.
